Poya is the celebration of the full moon each lunar month, in a day of religious practice and meditation observed by Buddhists in Sri Lanka.
Along with chanting, song, dance and plenty of incense, giant rolls of fabric are carried to the temple and wrapped around the stupa in the ritual practise of circumambulation.
